This year's magnet focus has been Perspective. Our arts exposure opportunities--the field trips to Reynolda House, SECCA, WSSU, WFU, UNCSA, Innovation Quarter, etc.--the school wide productions of The Miser and Les Miserables--the Reynolds-sance Fair--the speakers arranged through the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting--the River Run Film Festival opportunities--reading selections--school wide work with identity--all have centered around the theme of Perspective.
How does our Perspective influence our actions?
What influences our Perspective?
Can exposure to people and ideas other than those familiar to our circle influence our Perspective?
We have looked at Perspective through the lenses of artists, historians, sociologists, scientists, and close readers.
Our Journalism students, through a grant by the Winston Salem Foundation and generous support of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, worked with filmmaker Diana Greene to create this short documentary on how place impacts identity here in Forsyth County. Do yourself a favor and watch it!
